Description

The mala has always been used by Buddhists and Hindus when reciting mantras. Compared to a prayer bead, it helps to focus the mind on meditation.

Traditionally, it takes the form of a long necklace made up of 108 Rudraksha beads, which can be alternated with other beads or semi-precious stones. This number carries many meanings in the Buddhist tradition.

In the form of a bracelet, the Wisdom mala is made up of 24 small Rudraksha beads and 23 gemmy amethyst beads. Grown in India, Rudraksha pearls are actually seeds from the Rudraksha tree. Elaeocarpus angustifolius. They are considered sacred in many Asian cultures and are known to bring inner peace, clarity of mind and a path through life. The smaller the Rudraksha pearls, the more sacred they are, as they are considered rarer and carry greater energy.

The violet colour of the amethyst stone has great significance in the practice of yoga. A symbol of spirituality, it is also a soothing colour that helps the mind to concentrate.

This Wisdom bracelet resonates with the 6th chakra (Ajna), that of the 3rd eye (self-development and willpower), and the 7th chakra (Sahaswrara), that of the crown (clarity and awareness).

MALA SPIRIT - Jewellery that spreads love around the world

The Mala Spirit adventure began when Frank, its founder, decided to leave everything behind to go abroad in search of meaning. Before this trip, Frank had already developed a special affection for mala necklaces, some of which he owned. When he returned home and found his sacred malas, something clicked. Mala Spirit was born.

Frank works with Soma Temple, the creator of Aum Rudraksha Designs. Based in Bali, Indonesia, Soma has been encouraged by her spiritual master Papaji in India to create and distribute malas around the world, particularly in the West. According to Papaji, if everyone wears the sacred Rudraksha beads, the world will be a place of peace.

The Rudraksha pearls used by Aum Rudraksha Designs are grown organically and locally on their plantation in Indonesia. The company's activities revolve around eco-responsibility and environmental protection. All their creations are made in a spirit of sharing love and peace around the world.

Traditionally, the mala is a support for prayers in Hindu and Buddhist culture. It can be likened to the rosary or rosary beads of other religions. Mala means "garland" in Sanskrit. It is used to concentrate the mind while reciting the mantras. After each mantra recited, the practitioner advances one bead on the necklace.

Malas always have a number of beads referring to the number 108, as this is a sacred number in the Buddhist tradition. They are made up of round Rudraksha beads and sometimes other precious or semi-precious stone beads (carnelian, lapis lazuli, agate, tiger's eye, turquoise, quartz, citrine, etc.) which have specific properties (calming, courage, rejection of negative energies, serenity, etc.). Mala necklaces end with a pendant ('guru') and a pompom.

Rudraksha pearls are considered sacred in Asia. They are sometimes called 'Shiva's tears'. The smaller they are, the rarer and more precious they are. They come from a tree called Elaeocarpus angustifolius, which grows exclusively in South-East Asia. These seeds are known for their protective and energising properties.

Mala Spirit sees malas as useful for everyone. For yogis and yoginis who want something to help them recite their mantras during meditation. But also for people looking for an organic and ethical piece of jewellery (necklace or bracelet) that will give them energy, peace and love.

As well as providing you with beautiful necklaces and bracelets, Mala Spirit is also a brand committed to social and environmental causes. For every purchase, Frank is committed to donating a portion to charity. What's more, the manufacture of the malas supports the passionate work of the Aum Rudraksha Designs team. Employees are paid what they are worth and the company provides work for an entire village during the high season.

To experience the full virtues of Rudraksha and amethyst beads, we recommend that you transmit your intentions to the beads. This will charge them with energy and create a connection with your bracelet. Shiva's day, Monday, is ideal for the following ceremony:

  • Sit down in a quiet place where you can relax and feel at ease.
  • Choose a container of water in which to place a few fresh flowers. Add your Wisdom bracelet.
  • Light a stick of incense to enhance the relaxing atmosphere
  • When you're ready, take your mala in your hands and cleanse each bead one by one. Visualise your intentions and transmit them to the beads. A protective energy will emanate from the mala.
  • Chant the mantra "OM HREEM NAMAH SHIVAYA OM". It translates as Shiva's tears
  • You can now wear your bracelet for meditation or in your daily life. The beads are charged and ready to transmit their benefits to you.

The beads used to make it have naturally beneficial properties, so you can wear your mala bracelet without going through the above ceremony.

By wearing them so much, the beads in your mala will accumulate energy. At some point, you will feel it's time to clean it. It is important to follow the procedure below to discharge and reset the energies in your bracelet. Place the mala under running water and touch each bead with the intention of cleaning it. Let it dry in the open air. Once dry, you can then rub each of the beads with a little natural oil.

We love its violet colour, which soothes us during the stressful moments of everyday life. Amethyst promotes mental calm and helps to dispel anxiety and anger. Finding the right balance in your nerves is essential for a serene life and fruitful relationships.

Amethyst is closely linked to the spiritual and encourages meditation by creating a space of relaxation and serenity in the mind.

A source of positive energy and peaceful sleep, this bracelet is recommended for people who have trouble falling asleep or who tend to wake up in the middle of the night with thoughts running around in a loop.

This bracelet resonates with the 6th and 7th chakras. The sixth chakra is located between the two eyebrows. Known as the "3rd eye", it is synonymous with clear vision and intuition. When unbalanced, it can lead to confusion and a lack of self-recognition.

The seventh chakra is located at the top of the skull and is linked to wisdom. It allows us to feel anchored in the world, in the present moment and in connection with the people around us.
