Why take a sound journey, and what are the benefits?
The Sound Baths (or Sound Journeys) use a variety of sound techniques to promote physical, emotional and mental well-being. This approach is based on the idea that sound vibrations can resonate with the human body (particularly its liquid components, including water) and impact it at a cellular level, promoting relaxation, reducing stress and anxiety and inducing a deep state of letting go.
Depending on the session, several different techniques may be combined, such as Tibetan or crystal singing bowls, gongs, voice, drums and many other intuitive instruments, at varying rhythms and intensities. Each technique produces a unique sound frequency that will have a specific effect on the body and mind.
As you let yourself be carried away by the sound vibrations and concentrate on your breathing to relax, a state of deep relaxation is effortlessly established, helping to release your physical and mental tensions. Like an inner journey, you might visualise images, explore your bodily sensations or invoke inspirational thoughts or intentions. Sound bathing is always a personal, often introspective experience.
Participants often report feeling relaxed, energised and more balanced after a Sound Journey session. It's an effective approach for supporting general well-being and sometimes also relieving physical pain, anxiety or sleep problems.
How does a Sound Bath session work?
During such a session, the teacher plays or creates sounds using these techniques, either directly on or around the body, or in the surrounding space. The sounds can vary in intensity, rhythm and frequency to induce a state of deep relaxation and help release physical and mental tension. Sound massage, in which the bowl is placed directly on the body, is generally practised during individual Sound Treatments. Whether in a group or individually, the participant lies comfortably, allowing the sound vibrations to penetrate the body.
Laurence regularly guides Sound Baths coupled with the practice of Restorative Yoga or Yoga Nidra in group lessons (dates and booking here).

Who are the Bains or Voyages Sonores for?
It is important to note that sound therapy in all its forms (baths, trips, treatments or sound massages) should never be used as a substitute for medical treatment.
If you are suffering from any physical or psychological pathology or pain and/or if you are undergoing treatment and/or if you have the slightest doubt about the suitability of your participation, it is essential that you seek advice from your GP(s) before registering.
