Description
Malas are part of the Buddhist and Hindu traditions. Often used in meditation, they focus the mind on the recitation of mantras, according to a specific ritual. The beads, unfurled one by one, encourage concentration.
Rudraksha pearls come from a tree that grows in India. The seeds are harvested and carefully preserved for their virtues. They are considered sacred in many Asian cultures and convey a specific energy. The smaller the Rudraksha pearls, the more sacred they are, as they are considered rare and carry great energy.
Sometimes alternated with other precious or semi-precious stones, each has its own virtues, and their synergy means you can benefit from all their goodness according to your needs. For this bracelet, for example, they are alternated with pyrite beads.
Pyrite connects the many elements within you. It enables you to develop your ability to carry out several actions at once and relieves you of all the emotional stress you may be accumulating. Also known as the stone of luck, pyrite is a gem that increases prosperity and attracts wealth and abundance into your life.
This bracelet is connected to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd chakras. Here are their main characteristics:
1st: the root chakra, or chakra of the base, gives us a solid connection with the Earth and our fundamental needs. It is the foundation and anchoring chakra.
2nd: the sacral chakra lets our feelings flow and creates the possibility of fruitful relationships. This is the chakra of creativity.
3rd: the solar plexus chakra helps us to put our talents to work for others and gives strength to our self-development. This is the chakra of the will.
The Mala Spirit adventure began when Frank, its founder, decided to leave everything behind to go abroad in search of meaning. Before this trip, Frank had already developed a special affection for mala necklaces, some of which he owned. When he returned home and found his sacred malas, something clicked. Mala Spirit was born.
Frank works with Soma Temple, the creator of Aum Rudraksha Designs. Based in Bali, Indonesia, Soma has been encouraged by her spiritual master Papaji in India to create and distribute malas around the world, particularly in the West. According to Papaji, if everyone wears the sacred Rudraksha beads, the world will be a place of peace.
The Rudraksha pearls used by Aum Rudraksha Designs are grown organically and locally on their plantation in Indonesia. The company's activities revolve around eco-responsibility and environmental protection. All their creations are made in a spirit of sharing love and peace around the world.
Traditionally, the mala is a support for prayers in Hindu and Buddhist culture. It can be likened to the rosary or rosary beads of other religions. Mala means "garland" in Sanskrit. It is used to concentrate the mind while reciting the mantras. After each mantra recited, the practitioner advances one bead on the necklace.
Malas always have a number of beads referring to the number 108, as this is a sacred number in the Buddhist tradition. They are made up of round Rudraksha beads and sometimes other precious or semi-precious stone beads (carnelian, lapis lazuli, agate, tiger's eye, turquoise, quartz, citrine, etc.) which have specific properties (calming, courage, rejection of negative energies, serenity, etc.). Mala necklaces end with a pendant ('guru') and a pompom.
Rudraksha pearls are considered sacred in Asia. They are sometimes called 'Shiva's tears'. The smaller they are, the rarer and more precious they are. They come from a tree called Elaeocarpus angustifolius, which grows exclusively in South-East Asia. These seeds are known for their protective and energising properties.
Mala Spirit sees malas as useful for everyone. For yogis and yoginis who want something to help them recite their mantras during meditation. But also for people looking for an organic and ethical piece of jewellery (necklace or bracelet) that will give them energy, peace and love.
As well as providing you with beautiful necklaces and bracelets, Mala Spirit is also a brand committed to social and environmental causes. For every purchase, Frank is committed to donating a portion to charity. What's more, the manufacture of the malas supports the passionate work of the Aum Rudraksha Designs team. Employees are paid what they are worth and the company provides work for an entire village during the high season.
A ceremony allows you to transmit your intentions to the pearls and charge them with positive energy. The bracelet can also be worn as soon as you receive it, but we recommend these few steps to increase its benefits tenfold:
- Monday is the day to go for this procedure. It is the day dedicated to Shiva.
- Choose a quiet room or space where you can relax and let go.
- Pour some water and a few fresh flowers into a container. Add your mala Silver bracelet.
- If you wish, light a stick of incense to purify the atmosphere.
- When you feel relaxed, take your mala in your hands and massage each bead one after the other. Think of your intentions for these beads and transmit them through your fingers. Your mala will release a protective energy.
- Recite the mantra "OM HREEM NAMAH SHIVAYA OM". It represents Shiva's tears.
- Your bracelet is now ready to be worn for meditation or in your daily life. The pearls are charged with energy and ready to offer you their virtues.
The pearls in your bracelet will become full of energy. After a while, it's a good idea to discharge them. There are a few steps to reset them:
- Place the mala under running water and touch each bead with the intention of cleaning it.
- Put your bracelet outside to dry.
- When dry, you can rub a little natural oil over each pearl to preserve and polish them.
